I need Snow!

It has been so hot here in Ta Town its time for snow!!!
I just love the Holidays.. my two favorites are Halloween and Christmas. I have been working on my blocks for my Annual Halloween Block swap over the last few weeks. Which has really put me in the mood to do my Holiday stitching.
If your interested in quilting and would like to join in on the fun go HERE to check out the details. There are still 3 or 4 openings. Yes international players are always welcome in my swaps.
I received the cutest quilt block from my daughter last year for Christmas. It was set aside waiting for me to decide what to do with it. After months and months of staring at it... I have decided. I am going to make a Christmas tote. This little tote will be so much fun to use while shopping.

I have decided after getting this far on the tote front that the little girl has been swallowed up by the fabrics. I have ordered some Fabric crayons to color in the design. Sort of an altered art project. I have never attempted this sewing/altered art form before. I hope I don't mess it up. I have seen some awesome projects using this crayon technique. I hope that the crayons add just a bit of pop to my little block. Have any of our readers used the fabric crayons before. I was also debating on using fabric inks. Let me know what you think please! Before I go and mess up my daughters lovely work.

** UP DATE**

I received my Fabric Caryons in the Mail this week.
Here is the mess that I made of things.
I was trying to blend and make flesh color.
As you can see it didn't work out so good.
Maybe next project will be better!!
It is cute though :O)

The Fabric Crayons really make a difference in the looks ;O)
Have fun and try something new!! I did :O)

Back-to-School Teacher Gift

My daughter just started K3 at a local private school. Monday was her orientation, meet and greet time. While talking with her teacher I had planned on being random (in her eyes) and asking her favorite color. I changed my mind shortly after arriving. I had decided to go with blue. After most of the parents left the teacher started talking with my daughter. She asked Kaitlyn Joy her favorite color then said, "Mine is orange." So orange it is!
I left the school and headed for Hancock Fabrics for some orange fabric. As you can see I put a M for her last name. I got the idea after doing a google search and coming across a bag like it from Martha Stewart. I did end up having to quilt the bag because the fusible fleece wouldn't stick to the decorator weight fabric. I lined it with a blue, green, yellow fabric. I considered putting a pocket in it and probably should have, but goodness after the fusible fleece issue it was getting late. Her teacher sent a note saying she loves it!

Sweet Dreams

Howdy, I"m Sue from Country Pleasures blog and my sweet friend Cathy invited me to this sweet site! Even though I'm no young thing, I am re-learning the art of sewing, just a beginner with a advance mind of too many wants and ideas to keep up with. I"m still working on my first apron, got all the way to the waist band only to find out I did that wrong so now I've got to figure out how to attach it so it looks like I did it right? Anyhoo, my next obsession is these adorable rag bags. I recently bought one, and thought for $20, I could make one, or at least try too? So, now I want one in fall and Christmas themed fabric and thanks to Cathy for helping my find a free pattern, I"m well on my way to another challenge, after I finish the apron that is! Looking forward to getting to know all of you and learning along the way!
